Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) has initiated a 5,000-meter Phase 1 drilling program at its St-Bruno-de-Guigues site in Quebec, targeting high-potential natural hydrogen zones. The campaign involves shallow stratigraphic drilling at 30–35° angles, reaching depths of 500–600 meters, to analyze subsurface geology, fault systems, and the permeability of fractured formations. These geological features are considered crucial for the migration and accumulation of natural hydrogen.
The drilling program follows recent monitoring results showing hydrogen concentrations exceeding 21,000 ppm, reinforcing QIMC’s clean hydrogen model. The company has filed for the necessary drilling permits with Quebec authorities and anticipates further data from eight monitoring wells as weather conditions improve.
QIMC plans to apply its exploration methodology across its expanding hydrogen portfolio, including assets in Ontario, Nova Scotia, and the United States, in collaboration with partners such as Record Resources, Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp., and Blue Tree Energy Group. Additionally, CEO John Karagiannidis has been appointed Chairman of the Board, succeeding Jakson Inwentash. The company views Quebec’s proactive regulatory environment as supportive of its sustainable growth objectives.
