Kirkland Lake Discoveries (KLDC) has expanded its evolving polymetallic system at the KL West property with three new drill holes intersecting semi-massive to massive sulphides near the historic Winnie Shaft. These intersections validate their intrusive-related model, marking a shift from earlier volcanic-hosted (VMS) interpretations toward deeper, more extensive intrusion-driven mineralization.
Drill hole KLD25-37 encountered mineralization at 97.5 m depth, confirming the system’s continuity downward. Across the ten-hole, 1,722 m campaign, 1,011 samples were collected and submitted for assay. Logging revealed consistent alteration halos and sulphide styles across holes, indicating that the Winnie Pluton is central to mineralization—a model supported by geophysical mapping of the 17 km intrusion contact.
CEO Stefan Sklepowicz noted that this breakthrough suggests the historical shaft only tapped the system’s surface expression. KLDC’s expansive 40,000 ha land position includes the entire intrusion perimeter, reinforcing the campaign’s district-scale potential in the Abitibi.
KLDC plans follow-up with geophysics, geochemistry, and a Helicopter-borne MT survey to guide future drilling along strike and depth. These results serve as the backbone for designing next-phase drilling aimed at unearthing deeper, higher-grade targets.
