Val-d’Or Mining Corporation has announced that diamond drilling is now underway at the Baden Prospect near Matachewan, Ontario, under an option agreement with Eldorado Gold (Québec) Inc. The program marks the first drill tests at Baden after earlier geophysics and surface work indicated gold-in-quartz vein potential hosted in syenite porphyry dikes. The property is located approximately 15 kilometres northwest of Matachewan and falls within the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt, a region known for high-grade gold deposits. Eldorado has earned the right to acquire up to 70% of the Baden claims by funding exploration, and this drill program meets the first major milestone in that earn-in agreement. Val-d’Or retains a minority stake and royalty potential as the operator partner advances exploration. The drilling is structured to test initial targets defined from prior work including soil sampling and vein mapping. Management emphasizes the significance of this mobilization, pointing to a favourable gold price environment and strong interest in the region. With assays pending, the company aims to deliver updates as results arrive, positioning Baden as an early exploration asset with upside for both Val-d’Or and Eldorado as they undertake systematic work.
