Volta Metals Ltd. reported a major increase in the mineral resource estimate for its Springer rare earth element deposit near Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. The updated estimate totals 176 million tonnes of rare earth mineralization, including 56.6 million tonnes in the Indicated category grading 0.70 percent total rare earth oxides and 119.5 million tonnes in the Inferred category grading 0.58 percent total rare earth oxides. The Indicated resource represents a 1,248 percent increase, while the Inferred category grew by 841 percent compared with the prior estimate. Both categories include near-surface higher-grade cores, with 11.5 million tonnes at 1.10 percent total rare earth oxides in Indicated and 3 million tonnes at 1.16 percent in Inferred. The company stated that mineralization remains open in all directions and that a 6,000-metre drill program is underway to support further growth. Historical and recent gallium mineralization is not included in the current resource, and updated metallurgical work is ongoing. Volta Metals said the scale increase places Springer among the largest rare earth deposits in North America and supports continued advancement of the project in a well-serviced mining region near Sudbury.
