Kirkland Lake Discoveries has launched a fully funded 25,000-metre diamond drill campaign across its extensive land package in the Kirkland Lake region of Ontario, with the first drill rig already turning at the key Winnie Lake Stock contact corridor. A second rig is slated to begin work in January 2026.
The company affirms two overlapping mineral systems — a copper-rich massive sulphide system and an intrusion-related gold system — enhancing the odds for both polymetallic and gold discoveries. This dual-system model increases the scope and flexibility of the exploration program.
To lead the technical work, Kirkland Lake Discoveries appointed a new Vice-President Exploration, Ben Cleland, P.Geo., plus technical advisor Dr. Jean-François Montreuil. Their combined expertise in greenstone-belt geology and complex hydrothermal systems is viewed as a major boost to the company’s discovery potential and project execution.
The drill program will target multiple priority zones identified through recent drilling, geophysical surveys, and geochemistry. With this significant scaling-up of exploration, the company positions itself to unlock what it sees as a district-scale opportunity in a historically rich mining camp.
