McEwen Mining asserts that its operations are fully compliant with environmental regulations and are regularly inspected by provincial and federal agencies. The company emphasizes its commitment to environmental protection and proposes additional monitoring measures. Regarding AAN’s claim of missed compensation payments stipulated in an Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) signed in 2011 with the mine’s previous owner, Brigus Gold, McEwen contends that this arrangement predates its ownership and that it is not responsible for shares not delivered by intervening owner, Primero Mining. McEwen highlights its contributions of approximately $20 million in direct and indirect benefits to the community since acquiring the property in 2017 and expresses a desire for constructive dialogue to resolve the issues amicably.
