Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. has reported new surface gold results from its Castle East property near Gowganda, Ontario, extending the known northeast-trending gold corridor to approximately 560 metres.
A prospecting sample at the southwestern end of the program area returned 2.80 grams per tonne gold. Channel sampling near the extended 2023 stripped exposure returned 2.09 grams per tonne gold over 1.6 metres, including 2.51 grams per tonne over 0.7 metres and 1.77 grams per tonne over 0.9 metres. Grab samples from the stripped exposure returned 2.47 grams per tonne and 1.22 grams per tonne gold. The company notes that grab samples are selective and are not representative of average grades.
The program also mapped three principal vein sets, with the dominant subvertical, north to north-northwest striking set generally carrying the strongest mineralization. Earlier surface sampling returned values up to 3.2 grams per tonne gold, while prior drilling intersected gold beneath the surface showings.
Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. plans a larger fall program of prospecting, stripping and sampling. Results will feed into an expanded Castle East geological model covering silver, cobalt and coincident gold domains. The company states it is not assuming the surface gold and silver-cobalt systems are connected.
