Kirkland Lake Discoveries (KLDC) has made a noteworthy breakthrough in its first drill hole (KLD25-28) at the KL West property, intersecting a robust intrusion-related polymetallic system at the Winnie showing. The core exhibited classic alteration features—strong silicification and magnetite—alongside multiple mineralization styles including disseminated, semi-massive, and massive sulphides featuring chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrite, and magnetite. This confirms the presence of a significant hydrothermal system rather than an isolated occurrence.
The intersection lies near a 17 km intrusive contact around the Winnie Stock, suggesting district-scale potential. Highlights include 4.42 m of semi-massive to massive sulphides starting at 23.00 m, a 1.14 m massive sulfide interval at 39.25 m, and an 8.00 m zone of disseminated mineralization within intensely silicified basalt from 15.00 m depth. KLDC plans additional regional drilling along the intrusion’s contacts once assays are received and analyzed. CEO Stefan Sklepowicz described the result as validation of their geological model and a major technical success for the company.
