Volta Metals Ltd. reported striking results from its first diamond drill hole at the Springer Rare Earth Element (REE) Project, located just outside Sturgeon Falls in Ontario. The borehole (SL25-23) intersected 383.5 metres at 0.85% total rare earth oxide (TREO), including zones such as 197.5 metres at 1.11% TREO and 69.5 metres at 1.64% TREO. Deeper intervals revealed exceptional grades like 1.5 metres at 8.67% TREO, showcasing the project’s premium light and heavy rare earth content.
The mineralization includes elevated praseodymium and neodymium—key for permanent magnets—and heavy elements such as terbium, dysprosium and yttrium, vital in high-tech and clean-technology applications. Volta’s leadership noted the results validate historical models, confirm high-grade continuity at depth and set the stage for an updated resource estimate. With assays from subsequent holes pending, the company is poised to advance towards full resource modelling and potentially move into development stages. This discovery elevates the Springer Project’s status as a strategic rare earth asset in Ontario’s emerging critical-minerals sector.
