Kirkland Lake Discoveries Corp. reported continued expansion of alteration and mineralization at the Wolverine Bend target and broader KL West Property in the Kirkland Lake region of Ontario as its 25,000-metre diamond drilling program surpasses 10,000 metres completed. Step-out and undercut drilling at Wolverine Bend has intersected continuous, tens-of-metre intervals of intense potassic and hematite alteration within syenite, producing the distinctive brick-red host rock associated with major intrusion-related gold systems in the district. Visual logging indicates the alteration footprint is both laterally extensive and vertically persistent, with intensity increasing along structural corridors and at depth. Recent holes intersected broad alteration zones from near surface to more than 200 metres downhole, confirming expansion of the mineralized system. At the Winnie Lake area along the 17-kilometre corridor, drilling has also intersected semi-massive sulphides, fluorite, and molybdenite, supporting an expanding polymetallic intrusive-related system. Assays remain pending for many recent holes, but earlier drilling confirmed gold mineralization at Wolverine Bend. The company stated that overlapping mineralizing events across the corridor indicate district-scale potential at KL West, where two drill rigs continue operating to complete the fully funded program.
