Volta Metals has finished a 1,638-metre, four-hole diamond drilling program at its Springer Rare Earth and Gallium project near Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. The goals included testing extensions of known rare earth element (REE) mineralization both laterally and at depth, confirming the presence of gallium zones, and generating fresh material for metallurgical test work.
Each borehole encountered multiple zones of syenite-fenite breccias and carbonatite bodies—some reaching downhole thicknesses of up to 125 metres. All holes terminated within mineralized rock, implying the system remains open for further expansion along strike and downward. Samples are now with the lab for assay. If confirmed, these results may support an updated resource statement to replace or expand upon the historical 2012 estimate for the project, which had indicated 4.17 million tonnes at an average of ~1.07% TREO and inferred 12.73 million tonnes at ~1.12% TREO.

Volta also aims to better define gallium’s extent, a critical metal used in electronics and semiconductors. The company plans further drilling to delineate the carbonatite complex and test continuity of mineralization beyond historical boundaries. The initial drilling helps validate the scale and continuity of the REE-rich system, with launch points for follow-up exploration and resource review.
